The Foundation Dinner 2024 was a huge success with over $6000 raised for Rotary's Polio Plus campaign.  Almost 100 guests enjoyed the evening, including Members from several Rotary clubs, Past District Governor Paul Roger and partners and friends of the club.  We had the honour of awarding 2 Paul Harris Fellowships to Marilyne Jacob (Co-ordinator of Pete’s Pantry) and Senior Sergeant Chris Hebblethwaite (South Brisbane District Crime Prevention Unit), for their outstanding work in our Bayside community.  The auction conducted by Geoffrey Lyons, proved both an entertaining and successful fundraising event.  Click to read more...

The action-packed agenda for the evening included, the awarding of Paul Harris Fellowships to Marilyne Jacob (Co-ordinator of Pete’s Pantry) and Senior Sergeant Chris Hebblethwaite (South Brisbane District Crime Prevention Unit), for their outstanding work in our Bayside community.

Past District Governor Paul Roger’s presentation provided the audience with an excellent overview of the role that the Rotary Foundation has played in world peace since its inception in 1917. The Polio Plus campaign is just contribution Rotary has provided worldwide.  Despite a slight increase in cases identified in the last year, Paul is hopeful this is more an indication of health workers gaining access to remote and war torn parts of the world.  The Word Health Organisation has identified that the eradication of polio worldwide is possible if the current efforts continue.

The auction was conducted by Geoffrey Lyons, retired Stock and Station Manager from Inglewood was very entertaining. The number and value of the items donated for auction was incredible! Special shoutout to Margaret Vote, for her major support of the night. The auction and other fundraising activities raised $6,665.00 for the Polio Plus campaign which is an outstanding effort!  Special thanks to Geoff Catto and the team, for organising what was a truly memorable Foundation Dinner. Thank you also to all of the members from the Rotary clubs and their guests who attended the event.  Their was representation from the Rotary clubs of Wynnum & Manly, Beenleigh, Capalaba, Redlands Bayside, Wellington Point, Loganholme and Rotary Nomads.
