Say "NO" to domestic violence! The Rotary Club of Wynnum and Manly held a Walk against Domestic Violence along the Wynnum/Manly foreshore on Sunday 1 December. Every Friday, Rotarians can be seen in local cafes wearing purple shirts to raise awareness of the impact of domestic violence in our community. The walk aimed to bring further attention to this important cause and was supported by Rosie's Friends on the Street and Zonta and had representatives from Queensland Police.

The event was well attended and was truly a team effort by local community groups. Notable attendees included:
Joan Pease MP - State Member for Lytton
Alex Givney - BCC Councillor for Wynnum
Peter Cumming - former councillor
Elizabeth Lewis - Candidate for the Federal seat of Bonner (and a Zonta member).
Terry Newman - Assistant Governor of Our Rotary Cluster of Clubs
Eric Wood - District 9620 DV Campaign coordinator.
Thank you to all of those involved and for Past-President Les Louis for organising this event. We plan to continue to wear out purple shirts proudly at local cafes in order to start more conversations.
