Say "NO" to domestic violence! The Rotary Club of Wynnum and Manly held a Walk against Domestic Violence along the Wynnum/Manly foreshore on Sunday 1 December. Every Friday, Rotarians can be seen in local cafes wearing purple shirts to raise awareness of the impact of domestic violence in our community. The walk aimed to bring further attention to this important cause and was supported by Rosie's Friends on the Street and Zonta and had representatives from Queensland Police.
Welcome to the Rotary Club of Wynnum & Manly
The Rotary Club of Wynnum and Manly has members from many of Brisbane Bayside's businesses and government organisations.
We share a passion for making a difference to local, national and international communities.
The Wynnum Wheelchair Challenge 2024 on 28 November was a fantastic initiative to bring awareness of inaccessibility issues of the Wynnum CBD. Participants included representatives of all levels of parliament, representatives from local businesses and even Para-Olympian, Rachael Watson. Participants were asked to use a wheelchair to complete challenges which including shopping tasks, accessing pubic toilets etc. Think the Greatest Race in wheelchairs! A huge thank you to Bill Simpson for organising this important event and Spinal Life Australia for your generous sponsorship.
Wynnum and Manly Santa refurbishment project has been in full swing! The Santas displayed on local businesses have been an iconic part of Christmas in the Bayside area for over 40 years. Our club has been proud to run this project for 28 of those years. In 2024, club members have been working hard, just like Santa's elves replacing old Santas and our new ones are ready to go! Thank you to Bunnings Manly West, Taubmans, Wynnum Manly and Districts Men's Shed for their generous sponsorship of this year's refurbishment project.
If you are interested in purchasing one of our Santas to display in your home or business, please contact Bill Simpson to find out more.
