Say "NO" to domestic violence! The Rotary Club of Wynnum and Manly held a Walk against Domestic Violence along the Wynnum/Manly foreshore on Sunday 1 December. Every Friday, Rotarians can be seen in local cafes wearing purple shirts to raise awareness of the impact of domestic violence in our community. The walk aimed to bring further attention to this important cause and was supported by Rosie's Friends on the Street and Zonta and had representatives from Queensland Police.

The Wynnum Wheelchair Challenge 2024 on 28 November was a fantastic initiative to bring awareness of inaccessibility issues of the Wynnum CBD. Participants included representatives of all levels of parliament, representatives from local businesses and even Para-Olympian, Rachael Watson. Participants were asked to use a wheelchair to complete challenges which including shopping tasks, accessing pubic toilets etc. Think the Greatest Race in wheelchairs! A huge thank you to Bill Simpson for organising this important event and Spinal Life Australia for your generous sponsorship.

The Foundation Dinner 2024 was a huge success with over $6000 raised for Rotary's Polio Plus campaign. Almost 100 guests enjoyed the evening, including Members from several Rotary clubs, Past District Governor Paul Roger and partners and friends of the club. We had the honour of awarding 2 Paul Harris Fellowships to Marilyne Jacob (Co-ordinator of Pete’s Pantry) and Senior Sergeant Chris Hebblethwaite (South Brisbane District Crime Prevention Unit), for their outstanding work in our Bayside community. The auction conducted by Geoffrey Lyons, proved both an entertaining and successful fundraising event. Click to read more...

Wynnum and Manly Santa refurbishment project has been in full swing! The Santas displayed on local businesses have been an iconic part of Christmas in the Bayside area for over 40 years. Our club has been proud to run this project for 28 of those years. In 2024, club members have been working hard, just like Santa's elves replacing old Santas and our new ones are ready to go! Thank you to Bunnings Manly West, Taubmans, Wynnum Manly and Districts Men's Shed for their generous sponsorship of this year's refurbishment project. If you are interested in purchasing one of our Santas to display in your home or business, please contact Bill Simpson to find out more.

Join us for an evening of fun and philanthropy in support of the Rotary Foundation's Polio Plus campaign! After there only being 3 cases of polio in the world last year, it is really disturbing to see a re-emergence of polio in Gaza this year. Without ongoing vaccination worldwide, polio could become a threat to us all within a decade. Last year, our club donated over $1500 to the Rotary Foundation. Thank you for your support. We are fully booked for this year's event.

Do you have room for a New Year's resolution that supports the club and helps the environment? We don't just raise funds through BBQs and Santas, the club is also registered with Containers for Change. We are hoping to raise $10000 in 2024 to support our causes.
